THE MUSE

In this series, Shazmin explores her complexities and their role in the creative process. She uses herself as the quotidian model for reference and draws her silhouettes on the canvases. As she draws, she self-reflects on her inner flaws, strengths and who she wants to become. Rather than erasing pencil marks and fixing wobbly lines, these trails of imperfections are left unaided. These marks are a way to embrace her positive and negative traits. Refusing to use tape and tools to make sharp lines, she relies on her skill as a painter. This way of painting guides her to emotional freedom and an ongoing appreciation of imperfection, impermanence and incompleteness.
