The Meters

the meters live at the great American music hall 1975
I led art direction and design for The Meters reissues, spanning the deluxe box set, standard pressing, CD, and Record Store Day exclusive. The design drew on the band’s New Orleans roots, weaving Mardi Gras colours and motifs into every element to capture the '70s funk of their music and culture.
The deluxe edition expanded on the concept with curated ephemera, including a gumbo recipe card, a Mardi Gras crown poster, and a custom slipmat that immersed listeners in the spirit of New Orleans. For the sleeves, I grounded the visuals in 1975 by incorporating archival photography, scans of the original reel-to-reel tapes, and references to the 1981 bootleg cover art that first documented part of the Great American Music Hall concert. The archival references anchored the project in its history, while layered details gave the records a groovy energy that feels true to their music.
